Dr. Alicia Lawson, Licensed Clinical Psychologist, PSY24516 Dr.
Alicia Lawson has experience working with a wide range of individuals,
ranging from older adults to adolescent clients. She has been working
at the DBT Center of Marin for the past two years under the supervision
of Dr. Kari Wolman, providing individual, family, couples, and group
psychotherapy. She specializes in working with older adults, depression,
grief/loss, anxiety, relationship difficulties, impulsivity, and anger
management. Dr. Lawson has received extensive training in
emotion-focused psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, gestalt
awareness practices, and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT).
Dr. Lawson
received her BA from New York University and earned her Doctorate in
Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies. She
completed her clinical training at the Institute on Aging, South of
Market Mental Health Services, and Marin County Mental Health Services.
Dr. Lawson has been intensively trained in DBT and has attended several
weeks of training in Mindfulness practices for depression. Dr. Lawson
has over six years of group experience, including leading depression,
anxiety, anger management, DBT skills groups, caregivers support groups,
and bereavement process groups. For the last two years, Dr. Lawson has
co-taught a course on group leadership for the interns at Marin County
Community Mental Health.
She has also
provided DBT trainings to the interns at Marin County Community Mental
Health and Apple Family Works. In addition to DBT, she uses other
evidence-based treatments, such as CBT (Cognitive Behavior Therapy),
Emotion-Focued psychotherapy with couples, and exposure treatments for
panic, anxiety, and PTSD. With a background in program evaluations, Dr.
Lawson is focused on developing the emerging discipline of DBT and
looking at treatments that produce results. She offers training in DBT
and group facilitation for programs and individual therapists, we well

David Fish, MFTI David Fish works with adults, teenagers, families, and couples. As well as being an experienced DBT practitioner, he is a certified Hakomi therapist, and has an extensive background in various mindful, interpersonal, and somatic approaches to psychotherapy. David is an MFT intern (IMF#53842, supervised by Marian Cremin, LCSW, LCS 20471). |

Dr. Kari Wolman, Psy D Dr.
Wolman provides individual and group psychotherapy for a variety of
mood, anxiety, and personality disorders, as well as difficulties with
relationships, impulsive behaviors, and "out-of-control" emotions. In
addition to other evidence-based treatments for these disorders, Dr.
Wolman specializes in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). DBT (link to
"about DBT") combines Western Cognitive Behavioral Therapies with
Eastern Mindfulness practices to effectively address patterns of
unstable and extreme emotions, chaotic relationships, destructive
behaviors, and feelings of hopelessness.
Dr. Wolman is Intensively Trained in DBT. She was first introduced to
DBT in 2003 at a week-long mindfulness training taught by Marsha
Linehan, Ph.D., the original developer of DBT. Since then, Dr. Wolman
has completed several weeks of training in every component of
comprehensive DBT therapy, as well as training on DBT for adolescents
from Alec Miller, Ph.D., who developed that adaptation.
Dr. Wolman earned her Doctorate in Psychology from the PGSP-Stanford
Psy.D. Consortium. She completed her clinical training in Cognitive
Therapy for Depression and Parent Management Training for behavioral
problems at the Stanford Medical School Department of Psychiatry and
Behavioral Science; with HIV-positive patients at the UCSF AIDS Health
Project; and in a two-year specialization in DBT at Marin County Mental
Health Services.
Dr. Wolman also offers training in DBT for mental health
professionals and programs, as well as program development consultation.
She holds a Masters Degree in Management from the London School of
Economics and has conducted Organizational Development consulting for
academic, corporate, and public-sector organizations.
